To kick-start our first meeting after the summer break, we did a more relaxed activity to warm up the children for what is to come in the next couple of weeks!
Today, we started reading a book about facing your fears that was written by an aunt of mine, Aunty Denene Millner. We just loved looking at the beautiful pictures as we followed along with the relatable plot!
The Word Of The Week this week is phenomenal. Phenomenal means exceptionaly good or amazing. Shout-out Cornelia for forming the best sentence with the W.O.F.T.W!
Here's her sentence:
"The picnic that I went to was phenomenal!"
ACTIVITY OF THE WEEK:
After forming 3 sentences, everybody was allowed to colour in a colouring book or find hidden objects in an activity book. And those who wrote a sentence or more using the word phenomenal (correctly) were given badges!
During this time, Mama gathered five children who needed more assistance in terms of reading and writing to do a vocabulary-building activity with flashcards and to help them read lower-level books to sharpen their reading skills.
We ended off the day with a call to action to be more kind to each other, to our environment and to ourselves and afterwards shared around our meal of the day.
Today was a great one, I can't wait to see them again next week!
