Happy August! Quick question: how many cities can you list in 1 minute? Today, that and several other prompts were tested on the TBR students with the activity of the day: Board Race.

Let’s start from the beginning. Today, I was joined by two friends of mine from school, Sean and Nana Kwame, and together, they managed to bring some chaos yet excitement to TBR.

We started off by reading our storybook, Stubborn Kwame by Abena Apea, which follows the light-hearted but good-moraled story of a young boy who learned to treat others how he wanted to be treated after things didn’t go his way…

Now onto our activity of the day! Before my friends came, I had planned to do another activity, but after seeing how quickly they had adjusted to the classroom just from reading the storybook, I knew there was some room to do a more fast-paced and competitive game.

And indeed, my plan worked out, maybe a bit too well. 😅 Sean and Nana Kwame ended up being the leaders of one of the two teams each and riled up their members so much that the rivalry could be felt from outside! That’s not even mentioning the cheating that ended up taking place due to the unnecessary competition and hurry. In the end, after a few warnings to disqualify teams and quashing a few inter-team fights, Nana Kwame’s team, the Challengers, were the winners of the day.

Later on, things started slowing down as we went through a spelling test, spelling review, and book exchange. But of course, my friends couldn’t leave without just a bit of chaos… Let’s just say that some loser’s laps were done across the courtyard by Sean and his team. (Ironically, they were called the Champions.) 😂

P.S: Happy Birthday Gerald!
