Happy new school year! Back at our little corner in Sakumono, many new things have come with the school year, one of the biggest ones being that I am actually no longer in Sakumono, or Ghana! Now entering my 3rd week, I have been at a boarding school in New Hampshire, U.S., which has been a pretty big adjustment for me. But I’m not the only one in a new environment… 4 of our very own readers/ titans: Cornelia, Rebecca, James and Gerald have now been enrolled into a new school as a part of our fund raising program! (More details on that later.)
However, with all of these changes, one thing has still remained the same: Titanic Beach Readers is still the best!
Now, onto how the first day went according to my mom, who will now be partially taking over most of the lessons.
The day started off with an interesting read about Jollof then transitioned into one of the most interactive spins we’ve had on our usual spelling tests. Instead of calling out a word, my mom called out a riddle. For example: It starts with G and is the opposite of bad. Answer: Good.
As you may have already expected, that spelling test definitely brought some excitement to the class which was enhanced by the outside playtime that happened right after. Soon after, mom wrapped the day up by passing out the food, my personal favorite, Kenkey and singing happy birthday to Nora.
I feel so much FOMO already but who knows, maybe somehow I will make a cameo appearance soon! 😉
