It’s a peaceful Saturday morning in Sakumono, the compound rooster announces its presence with a crow and the nearby street pastor is setting up his speakers, but at TBR multiple different sounds are being made, they sound like… words?

“Apple!”

“Eagle!”

“Dog! Eish sorry Lion, no… Elephant!”

Today at TBR we started our day with a warm-up activity (that took most of our lesson time 😅) that involved shouting out words just like what you see above. But these are not just random words. The game, word snake, requires that each person says a word that begins with the last letter of the previous word. To play this game we split the class into two teams, A and B, and then each team did a few rounds among themselves then the final rounds were inter-team. In the end Team B won, but each person went back to their seats with one or two new words learnt.

Afterwards we settled down with a smooth and simple spelling test, then we introduced a new way for people to get more books on their 100 book challenge list. I brought 6 books to give out to some people who are strong readers and I know are responsible, then Joana and Vicent, our elected library prefects, took record of the book, the person who borrowed it and the condition it is in.

In the end, we shared a few laughs concerning Kennedy, Mamma and his Nkat3 (long story… 😅) and we awarded a few people who came up to correct a mistake in marking where something they got wrong was marked correct.

 It is always amazing looking back at how far we have come as a class. I still remember how shy and nervous they were to participate and ask questions. And I remember how cheating was their first instinct when they did not understand something. Now, they are responsible, friendly and honestly we feel like a big group of friends.
